GFSI Certified Food Grade Packaging Supplier
The Global Food Safety Initiative (GFSI) sets the international benchmark for food packaging safety management systems. As a GFSI recognized supplier, Southern Packaging produces packaging in compliance with the following certified standards:
- FSSC 22000 - Food Safety System Certification
- SQF (Safe Quality Food) - Levels 2 & 3
- ISO 22000 - Food Safety Management Systems
- AIB International - Consolidated Standards for food-grade manufacturing facilities
These certifications require regular third-party audits covering raw material traceability, contamination prevention, facility hygiene, and process controls. For food manufacturers, they serve as documented proof that your packaging supplier meets the same level of rigor your own plant is held to.
All packaging is produced using FDA-approved raw materials. Products are free from harmful substances, heavy metals, and chemical contaminants that could compromise food contact safety.
Food-Safe Packaging Materials & FDA Compliance
All Southern Packaging products supplied for food applications are manufactured from food-contact-grade materials that meet FDA requirements under 21 CFR (Code of Federal Regulations). Key material standards include:
- Virgin polypropylene (PP) - no recycled content, free from process contaminants, used in food grade FIBC bulk bags and woven polypropylene bags
- Food-contact polyethylene (PE) - used in FIBC liners and polyethylene bags; meets FDA 21 CFR 177.1520 for food contact
- Kraft paper - used in multi-wall paper bags; FDA-compliant for direct food contact
Our manufacturing partners operate in AIB and SQF certified facilities where food-grade and non-food-grade products are produced in segregated environments. Packaging is handled, stored, and shipped under protocols designed to prevent cross-contamination, foreign material introduction, and moisture ingress.
