A Pasted Valve Stepped End (“PVSE”) multi-wall paper bag, is a common industrial packaging style designed to package a wide variety of dry flowable products. Valve bags are packed on equipment that deposits material into the bag via horizontal filling spout. When the bag is discharged from the packing equipment, forces generated by the product inside the bag allow the valve opening to self-seal. Used for medium to large format products of varying density, PBOM bags are ideal for high-end and sensitive products in the chemicals, food, pharmaceutical, and pet food industries when barrier liners are required to optimally preserve the bag’s contents. PBOM bags can be closed by sewing, but they are most often closed/sealed by Pinch Bag Closers (PBC) using a pre-applied hot-melt to create sift proof closures. As a leading multi-wall paper bags manufacturer, we ensure that our PBOM bags meet the highest standards of quality and safety. Learn more!
Often referred to as a “Webb” bag, the satchel bottom open mouth bag is a merger of 2 distinct bag styles (SOS & PBOM). This unique bag type offers a square satchel style bottom and sealable open mouth top. Webb bags are closed/sealed by Pinch Bag Closers (PBC) using a pre-applied hot-melt to create sift proof closures. Webb bags palletize and transport better than standard PBOM bags due to their square bottom, providing a superior multi wall packaging solution. Learn more!
An SOS bag is a block bottom, gusseted style bag that is capable of standing up unsupported due to its flat, machine-formed base. SOS bags provide superior stability during filling. In addition, their shape stacks well and creates a stable pallet load.
An SOM bag is an open mouth bag that is closed using sewing thread. The bag is a flush cut tube that is factory closed at one end and left open at the other end for the customer to pack and sew closed.
SOM bags were one of the earliest multi-wall bag constructions available in the market. Today they remain a tough, economical, workhorse bag style for a broad range of applications. Learn more!

A multi-wall paper bag is an industrial packaging solution made from multiple layers (plies) of kraft or extensible paper, designed to package dry flowable products such as building materials, chemicals, minerals, food ingredients, and agricultural products. The multi-layer construction provides durability and strength beyond what a single-ply bag can offer, protecting contents during high-speed filling, transportation, and storage.
Multi-wall paper bags are constructed from multiple plies of kraft or extensible paper - typically 1 to 6 layers depending on the bag style and application - that are formed into tubes, sealed, and finished with the appropriate valve, pinch, or sewn closure for the intended use. The number of plies, paper type, and closure method are selected based on the product being packaged and the performance requirements of your filling and shipping process. For a detailed look at how our multi-wall bags are manufactured, see our step-by-step multi-wall paper bag manufacturing guide.
Valve bags, like Pasted Valve (PVSE), are filled through a valve opening via a horizontal filling spout, and self-seal once the bag is discharged from the packing equipment - making them well suited for high-speed automated filling. Open-mouth bags, including PBOM, Webb Pinch, SOS, and SOM styles, are open at the top for filling and are closed afterward using sewing, heat seal, or pinch closures. The right choice depends on your filling equipment, production speed, and closure preferences.
Yes. Multiple moisture barrier options are available across our multi-wall paper bag styles, including PE coated inner plies, a free film layer between the paper plies, or greaseproof paper. For products requiring additional odor protection, foil and Mylar liners are also available on select bag styles. The right barrier configuration depends on the moisture sensitivity of the product being packaged - our team can help confirm the best option for your material.
Capacity varies by bag style: our PVSE, PBOM, Webb Pinch, and SOM bags typically hold 25 to 100 lbs, while SOS bags range from 1 to 50 lbs. The right capacity depends on the plies and paper type selected, as well as your filling equipment and handling process. Contact our team to confirm the right specification for your product.
Yes. UN Certification is available across several of our multi-wall paper bag styles, including PVSE, PBOM, Webb Pinch, and SOM, making them suitable for packaging hazardous materials that require UN-specification packaging.
